Frequently asked questions.
What age do i need to be to get started?
They youngest age we accept for kids is 5 years old. Kids class age categories are not a hard line. We want kids to be in the correct age category for their size, maturity, and ability.
Adult classes are ages 15 and up.
What’s the difference between gi and no-gi classes?
In Gi classes, you wear a traditional kimono and can grip your opponents clothing. In No-Gi you wear shorts and a rash guard and grips are on the body. Being comfortable and capable of gripping the body and the clothing allows your Jiu-Jitsu to be more applicable in a street situation where clothing choice is uncertain. They are both fun and useful in their own unique ways!
How often should i train?
Two to three times per week is ideal for beginners or people training casually. Training 4-6 times per week is ideal for competitors or those that really enjoy it and want to improve rapidly. The most important part about training frequency is being consistent rather than high volume and burning out. Practicing consistency in your training is one of the many ways training Jiu-Jitsu builds discipline.
